LASER-ASSISTED RLE SURGERY

Avoid the need to wear glasses

Laser-Assisted Refractive Lens Exchange is the most modern eye treatment that can correct many refractive issues. This is the perfect treatment if you wear bifocal, distance, and reading glasses or to eliminate the need for glasses.

Laser-Assisted RLE Surgery replaces the natural lens of the eye with an artificial lens to correct vision (e.g., short-sightedness, long-sightedness, presbyopia, and astigmatism).

If you are over 45, Laser-Assisted RLE Surgery can allow you to live glasses-free if laser eye surgery is no longer an option.

Praga Medica cooperates with the vision surgery market leading clinics using the latest technology. Laser-Assisted Refractive Lens Exchange only takes 10 minutes per eye and does not involve sharp instruments.

Procedure details

We perform RLE in local anaesthesia when the natural lens is painlessly crushed with a femtosecond laser and removed through a microincision. Our experienced surgeon implants a new high-quality monofocal, EDOF, or trifocal lens. RLE is performed in an ambulatory setting during which an optical element (intraocular lens) is permanently implanted in the eye.

It takes about 10 minutes per eye. You can leave the eye clinic immediately after the surgery, and the post-operative check-up is the next day.

Both eyes RLE surgery requires only 5 days in Prague, Brno, or Bratislava.

FAQS

What is the difference between RLE and LenSx?

arrow-procedures
The Refractive Lens Exchange surgery can be performed by scalpel (standard RLE) or LenSx femtosecond laser. The advanced technology of LenSx is used to gently shatter the intraocular lens and create an opening in the cornea. It provides precision, control, and minimal trauma to the eye.

What is the risk and side effects to LenSx?

arrow-procedures
It is rare for patients to develop side effects after laser-assisted surgery aside from blurry vision, sensitivity to light, itching, or other mild discomforts – all connected to the standard RLE procedure. There are no other side effects associated with LenSx, and overall the risks are lower than standard procedure.

In some cases, however, patients may develop capsular pacification. This condition may occur after any RLE surgery. However, the risk of developing a secondary cataract is lower if we use LenSx during the surgery.

If this should happen, we will correct it as part of our postoperative care treatment at no additional charge.

What is the advantage of LenSx?

arrow-procedures
The natural lens is painlessly crushed with ultrasound and removed through a microincision. Our experienced eye surgeon implants a new high-quality monofocal, EDOF, or trifocal lens. RLE is a performed in an ambulatory setting during which an optical element (intraocular lens) is permanently implanted in the eye. It takes about 10 minutes per eye.

The patient can leave the clinic immediately after the surgery. The next day is a postoperative check-up. The most popular are Alcon Acrysof lenses and Zeiss lenses.
