Symptoms of a Cataract
Cataract means reduced transparency and hardening of the eye lens that is normally clear. We usually experience cataracts after 60 years of age. Among the risk factors for cataract occurrence are mainly age, general diseases, diabetes, some medicine on a long-term basis, smoking and eye injury.
The Surgery
Cataract surgery with monofocal lenses is performed in local anaesthesia. The cloudy lens is painlessly crushed with ultrasound and removed through a microincision. Our experienced cataract surgeon implants a new high quality Acrysof monofocal yellow lens.
The surgery takes place in an ambulatory setting and takes about 10 minutes. The patient can leave the eye clinic immediately after the surgery. The next day is a post-operative check-up.
Cataract surgery on both eyes takes only 5 days in Prague.
The Methods
The price quoted is for a standard method where a small incision is made by our experienced cataract surgeon. We also offer a so-called laser-assisted cataract procedure where the incision is performed by a femtosecond laser LenSx, which allows even greater precision and faster recovery times.
The standard cataract surgery with IOL monofocal lens comes with a high-quality Acrysof lens implant produced by Alcon, an American company. We stock lens implants of other manufacturers as well, most popular are Alcon and Zeiss. Trifocal (Multifocal) and toric versions of intraocular lenses are also available.
Monofocal lenses are single vision lenses and correct vision at near, intermediate, or far distances. Trifocal (multifocal) lenses were designed to eliminate the need for glasses or contact lenses. Trifocal lenses offer near, and long-distance vision. The price of the cataract surgery very much depends on the lens implant cost (monofocal lens implant, trifocal lens implant). Please contact us for a complete list including toric lens implants.
