EYE PREOPERATIVE EXAMINATION
Eye Preoperative examination includes tests of visual acuity, intraocular pressure, corneal and binocular visual system examination, subjective refraction, external examination of the retina, and Schirmer test.One of our eye specialists will evaluate the results of your examination, recommend treatment, and answer your questions. A Praga Medica representative will accompany you through the examination to assist you with translation and organization. The results from the examination are valid for three months.
General Health examination
It includes a blood test, blood pressure, ECG, and test for glycaemia to confirm that you can undergo the surgery in local anaesthesia. It is mandatory for all patients who are 60 years or older or suffer from cataracts. It can be arranged in Prague, or you can bring a confirmation from your GP.Independent Review Sites

No reputable surgeon will operate on an eye they have not measured themselves, and this examination is where your treatment plan is actually decided. It takes around three hours and tells us whether laser correction, a lens exchange or an implantable contact lens is the right procedure for your eye, and which lens or method will give you the result you are after.
The assessment covers visual acuity, intraocular pressure, corneal and binocular examination, subjective refraction, an external examination of the retina, and a Schirmer test for tear production. Patients over 60 and anyone being treated for cataracts also complete a general health screening with blood tests, blood pressure, ECG and a glycaemia test. Results come back the same day, so there is no second trip before surgery.
For most patients this examination happens on the first day of their stay and surgery follows the next morning. It is booked and priced separately from the procedure itself, so it is never buried inside a package figure, and if you would rather know where you stand before committing to anything you can come for the examination on its own.
