RLE or Refractive Lens Exchange, also called CLE or Clear Lens Extraction is a painless 10 minutes long intraocular eye surgery during which an optical element (intraocular toric lens) is permanently implanted in the eye. Refractive lens exchange is suitable for patients over 40 years of age with disorders beyond the scope of laser eye surgery.

A toric IOL lens, in contrast, is a geometric shape that looks like a doughnut. The shape of toric contact lenses creates different refractive or focusing, powers on the vertical and horizontal orientations. The toric lens is custom-made.

Quite painlessly, monofocal toric lens replacement surgery is performed in an ambulatory setting during which an optical element (intraocular lens) is permanently implanted in the eye. It takes about 10 minutes. The patient can leave the clinic immediately after eye surgery.
Next day is a post-operative check-up. It can only take 5 days to have both eyes operated, planned in 2 visits. The toric lenses are custom-made lenses and it takes approx. 3 weeks to have them ready after the initial preoperative examination.
