DEEP PLANE FACELIFT

A deep plane facelift is an advanced and extremely effective surgical technique, which smooths and tightens the skin of the face and neck; improves definition and redistributes fat to restore volume, resulting in a youthful, well-rested appearance. As it lifts the deep tissues and not merely the upper layers of the face and neck, it achieves a very natural-looking result and avoids the overly pulled and taut windswept look. It offers many benefits over other forms of facial rejuvenation surgery, including superior definition around the cheeks and jawline, longer lasting results, smaller incisions and minimal scarring and fewer complications as the thicker skin surface helps to prevent skin damage. The procedure can also be combined with a neck lift, brow lift and lower and/or upper eyelid surgery.

Our plastic surgeons are highly skilled, board-certified and can provide a free medical evaluation within 48 hours. Contact our treatment coordinators if you would like to know more!

Procedure details

Unlike a traditional facelift, which only lifts the SMAS (the layer of tissue which covers the facial muscles and nerves from the forehead to the neck), a deep plane facelift goes even deeper below the SMAS in order to release the ligaments which tether the deep connective tissues and muscles. This allows the surgeon to pull those deep layers up and re-suspend them to achieve superior results.

Surgery is carried out under general anaesthetic and usually takes 2 to 3 hours. You will remain in the clinic for between 1 to 3 nights post-op and then stay at a nearby hotel for a further 4 nights. Dressings will stay on for 3 to 5 days and compression garments should be worn for another 2 weeks to minimise swelling and bruising. Non-absorbable sutures are removed 5 to 12 days after surgery. You can resume normal activities after 2 to 3 weeks and sport after 4 weeks unless your surgeon recommends otherwise.

Recovery timeline

Plan for around 5 nights in Prague in total: 1 to 3 nights in the clinic followed by 4 nights at a nearby hotel. Dressings stay on for 3 to 5 days and compression garments should be worn for a further 2 weeks to minimise swelling and bruising. Non-absorbable sutures are removed 5 to 12 days after surgery. Most patients resume normal activities after 2 to 3 weeks and sport after 4 weeks, unless the surgeon advises otherwise.

Deep plane facelift cost

A deep plane facelift in Prague starts from €5,670. The same procedure in the UK, Ireland or Germany typically costs several times that figure. The difference comes from lower operating costs in the Czech Republic, not from lower standards. Our surgeons are board certified and work in accredited Prague hospitals under EU medical regulations.

Is it right for you

Unlike a traditional facelift, which lifts only the SMAS layer, a deep plane facelift releases the ligaments that tether the deeper connective tissues and muscles, so the surgeon can lift and re-suspend those layers rather than pulling on the skin. That is why it suits patients with more pronounced midface descent and jowling, and why it avoids the overly pulled, windswept look. It also gives longer lasting results, smaller incisions and fewer complications. The procedure can be combined with a neck lift, brow lift or eyelid surgery in one operation. Send us your photos and medical history and one of our surgeons will tell you within 48 hours whether a deep plane facelift fits your case, with the exact price and no hidden fees. We have guided more than 10,000 patients through treatment in Prague since 2010.
