Personal details

  • She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Comenius University in Bratislava, graduated in General Medicine and completed her state examination in June 1999. In 2002 she obtained the 1st degree in Ophthalmology at the Department of Ophthalmology and in 2009 specialization in ophthalmology in accordance with the EU. She completed internships at the DFNsP Eye Clinic in Bratislava and the SPAM Eye Clinic in Bratislava.
  • Since 1999 she worked as a secondary physician at the Eye Department of the University Hospital in Ružinov. In 2006-2009 she also worked part-time in the Eye Center of Dr. Böhma in Bratislava. She enriched her professional experience by working for several years in the eye optics Light in Bratislava. Since January 2008, after the merger of two Bratislava workplaces, MUDr. Záhorcová has been at the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine, Charles University and UNB in ​​Bratislava.
  • MD. Záhorcová is the holder of the Contact Lens Application Certificate (2002). In 2008, she attended the Salzburg Weill Cornell Seminar in Ophthalmology under the guidance of world experts from the USA and Austria; Dr. Karla C. Ossoinig. She has participated in many congresses and trainings both at home and abroad and co-authored several foreign publications.

  • ESCRS European Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery ASCRS American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery At the NeoVision Eye Clinic , she focuses on diseases of the anterior segment of the eye, refractive errors and lenses, gray cataract and glaucoma. She is the only doctor in Slovakia who hyas performed Raindrop corneal implant.

  • She performs laser operations using NeoLASIK HD  and NeoSMILE 3D  and LASEK methods . By the end of 2018, she had performed more than 3,000 laser surgeries at the clinic in Bratislava and the sister clinic in Brno, of which of those more than 2,000 were using the VisuMax femtosecondlaser.
  • She is a member of the Slovak Medical Chamber (SLK), the  Slovak Society of Ophthalmology (SOS), the Czech Society of Refractive and Cataract Surgery (CSRKCH), the  European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ESCRS) and the  American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS).
  • MD. Miriam Záhorcová together with MUDr. Adriana Smorádková are the first Slovak doctors to perform eye surgery using a femtosecond laser .
